Since my “art life” is no longer all about dance, Albuquerque’s visual arts world is back on my agenda. So Friday night I gallery-hopped; first to County Commissioner Maggie Hart Stebbins office at One Civic Plaza for a reception for Christian Gallegos and his “Walk With Me” exhibit. Commissioner Stebbins hosts a new arts exhibit several times a year which is a brilliant idea—it is not always easy to get elected officials, bureaucrats or the rest of us to pay attention to the talented artists in our midst.
I hopped’ on to the Zendo Espresso Bar & Art Gallery on Second Street. What a perfect urban art space, unfinished and finished in just the right proportion. The opening was for Bruce Warren Davis, green architect and accomplished artist. He makes complicated work that initially appears simple, especially my favorite of greeny waves and slashes. I should do this more often.
