OITNB

SEASON THREE. ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK. ALL’S RIGHT WITH THE WORLD. Litchfield is still TV/Netflix’s place to be. Three episodes with friend Val who has never seen show before, it would have been wrong of me not to have introduced her to this Crazy Tough VERY Funny Show About Us. Women. Teresa arrives Thursday, a chance for another small binge.

Val and I after last night’s binge.

    • OMG…do I always have to explain EVERYTHING. Okay, ‘Orange is the new black’ is a take-off on the phrase women have been using for years and to which obviously you guys are oblivious. Black is THE color of forever and ever sophistication for urban women (maybe all women)…the basic ‘little black dress’ one must have’ and all that. Are you with me so far?

So each new fashion year when the designers decide to focus on a new color, bright red for example, then everyone says ‘red is the new black.’

So when this middle-class young blonde from the big city winds up in prison wearing entry-level orange and writes a new book about her experience it is, of course, called ‘Orange is the New Black.’ And then it turns into a super hit Netflix series we talk about it so much it has to be abbreviated … hence OITNB.

      How’d I do?

Tomorrow we deal with the meaning of life.
