Gun Safety in Albuquerque…Yeah right.

CIVIC PLAZA AT THE HEIGHT OF MONDAY'S GUN SAFETY RALLY

CIVIC PLAZA AT THE HEIGHT OF MONDAY’S GUN SAFETY RALLY

We are the Wild West…no, more like the wild southwest. Where mañana flavors the pace of life, including political activism. Today, however, seemed like the right time to activate more than the submit button on various cause-oriented web sites. To move from ranting on-line, especially about Americans’ excessive gun-love, to finding some friends to rant with in real life.

An email announced a gun safety rally (can’t say ‘control’ anymore or the most active ‘freedom-lovers’ among us start scanning the skies for the black helicopters come to take away their guns) on Civic Plaza at 10am. I decided to go.

I went. So did Charles. That was it…Charles and me.  Got there early. 9:15, 9:25, 9:40, 9:50, pleasant in the spring sun. Soon I can go home, eat toast and write a blog about the rally. Charles arrives. We introduce ourselves and talk a bit. 10am. Back home to the submit button from whence all opinion flows.

This is Marjorie Neset. Reporting from the front lines of the Albuquerque movement to oppose gun violence. I think your job is safe Wayne.
